Breeding Superior Beef

Boiling Springs Stud was established in the picturesque foothills of the Bunya Mountains at Cooranga North, near Bell on the Darling Downs. In 2002 we purchased our first stud Droughtmaster bull to put across our commercial herd after trying several other breeds, this is where we were introduced to the quality & strengths of the breed.

In 2003 we joined the Droughtmaster Breeders' society & proceeded to purchase some stud females including Sunnyview Fancy 80, Coorumbulla Impulse (Swan Eagle Hawk daughter), Billabong Lady Luck & Little Yabba Dent, who continue on to be the base of our top females today. In 2005 we purchased first our noteable sire, Glenlands Gaffel from the Glenlands Bull sale. We have retained some of his heifers.

In 2011 we purchsed Glenlands D Oxenford, his first progeny were offered for sale 2014, in a tough season the sale results of his calves were very encouraging. The two new sires purchased at the Rocky National sale in 2013 were, Wajatryn Gaznia & Wolfang Oberon. We are very pleased with the calves they have produced, which are now ready for sale. Unfortunately Wajatryn Gaznia has died but not before siring some eye catching calves.

We continue to add to our gene pool, purchasing a few quality outside females each year including "Alma", "Vale View", "Wundaburra", & "Lynsey Park" bloodlines, among others.

In December 2014 we made the decision to move our Stud & commercial operation to "Croydon Park", Meandarra to enable us to give away the plumbing business & concentrate on cattle breeding. We now have around 180 stud breeders which are constantly monitored for their fertility, temperament & ability to perform.

Our cattle are raised in tick free conditions on soft brigalow scrub country, grazing on natural & improved pastures. They are weaned onto oats crop & pastures, their development is not forced early with any additional grain feeding. This gives them the chance to develop their natural muscling, bone structure, feet & legs. We prepare our sale bulls on oats crop with access to hay & bull sale pellets only for the last few months before they are offered at sales. Our aim is to produce sound, resilient all around cattle which will perform well & thrive in all conditions.

We have been selling bulls at the Rocky National & Roma Tropical Breeds Sales & have bulls available for on farm sales most of the year.

In 2016 we purchased Medway Waldrona, we are getting his first progeny now which are very impressive deep bodied upstanding calves.

We are also getting promising results from Minlacowie Sherreef who we chose for his good bone, thickness & heavy hindquaters. His calves are displaying these same atributes & we are excited to watch them develop further. We will be presenting Sherreefs' first progeny for sale in September 2018.

Croydon Park has acheived a JBAS 7 status & our cattle are Western Australia eligible.
